Last weekend we hosted Thanksgiving dinner for M’s family. I thought it would be fun to post a photo play-by-play of the day so here it goes!
7:30am – put the turkey in the sink to finish defrosting
8:30 – start ripping up bread for the stuffing (the girls had fun getting involved with this one!)
9:00 – start prepping the veggies
We had lemon garlic green beans (lemon juice, minced garlic, olive oil)…
Brown sugar yams (brown sugar and olive oil)…
and honey balsamic carrots (honey, balsamic vinegar and olive oil).
We also did cream cheese mashed potatoes but didn’t get those going until later.
10:00 – throw some laundry into the mix
10:30 – deal with our first time out of the day as a result of hitting L with toys
10:45 – add the onions and seasoning to the stuffing
11:00 – stuff the bird
11:40 – put the turkey in the oven (only 10 minutes behind!)
12:00 – have some lunch
12:30 – 2:00 – take advantage of downtime!
L coloured while E napped
2:00 – 3:00 – get everyone ready and stage a photo shoot!
3:00 – set the table (with flowers from M and a super-cute turkey napkin holder L made)
4:00 – guests arrive
4:30 – take the turkey out…
and put the veggies in.
5:00 – have a well-deserved drink 🙂
5:30 – set all the food out (buffet-styles)
5:40 – eat!
6:20 – do some clean-up while dessert was heating up
6:40 – eat pie!
Whew! And that was our Thanksgiving Monday. It was a huge success and with everyone out by 7:15, M and I still had plenty of time to relax on the couch after the girls went to bed!
