This coming Friday, M and I celebrate our 5 year anniversary. Where has the time gone?!?
In honour of this momentous event (in our worlds, anyway!), I wanted to share some DIY projects from our wedding back in 2009. This was before Pinterest and that is probably for the best otherwise I would have worked full time DIYing my entire wedding rather than at my job where I made the money to have the wedding, lol.
The first project I want to share is our Save the Date cards. Not every wedding needs Save the Dates but because we had our date set over a year before we got married, we wanted to give our family and friends who would be flying in from all over the place plenty of advanced notice to book flights and hotels.
Rather than traditional cards, we went for magnets and did them in the style of photo booth pictures (do these even still exist anymore?)
For this project, we took 4 different pictures holding signs I wrote on and then used Photo Shop to merge them all together (this was before all the free online picture editing software like my fave, PicMonkey).
The Save the Dates were printed at home using 8.5″ x 11″ magnet sheets which I picked up from Staples. A pack had 4 sheets which got me 24 Save the Dates. I believe we sent out just under 50 so this project cost less than $20. Not bad!
Tomorrow I’ll share our invites which I also DIY’ed.
