I love the idea of utilizing items for a purpose other than what was originally intended… cork boards for keeping jewellery, paint chips as artwork and cookie sheets as magnetic boards. One that I’ve been seeing a lot of lately is using cake stands for storage. I decided to use a DIY cake stand as a decorative soap holder in the kitchen.
Here’s how it’s done:
Step 1: Gather your supplies
Here’s what I used:
- Candle holder (mine was $1.99 at a thrift store)
- Plate (dollar store purchase)
- Spray paint
- Glue gun
Step 2: Paint your materials
I used Rust-Oleum Painters’ Touch Ultra Cover spray paint in Heirloom White.
Step 3: Glue the items together
I used the glue gun and a lot of glue.
Step 4: Enjoy!
This project was a quick, easy and inexpensive way to jazz up my kitchen counter!
